Tips for New Players!

Some General Tips

The Hosts or Token is there to help and make a fun and safe place .
The Hosts are not paid employees. They Host because they enjoy seeing others have fun.
While a tournament is in progress please try to keep chat on the Host Table to a minimum so they can take ins accurately.

Feeling Ignored? Hosts don't intentionally ignore people but there are things that can happen to delay a host's response. A host may be bogged down with people asking in to tourney and be a bit backed up. They may be away from table checking on a misbid ,checking to see if zone messages are on , or helping someone with a question or problem at a table or in the lobby. PATIENCE is the key to playing in tournaments!

Help in Signing in to Tourneys

  1. All Tournaments are listed as Pacific time. The Schedule lists all Tournaments for that day. You can click on that tournament's name for more details such as format and descriptions.
Look in the tourney rooms for people with the (+) by their names.

When entering a tourney go to host table or if hosting in the lobby post there and ask to be in the tourney there are 3 ways to enter a tourney:

Single: Simply type "in please single " the host will then get you a pard usually this will be the next single to ask in it is usually pot luck or luck of the draw

With Pard: Simply type your pards name and in please example your name will already be there when you type so add this "/pards name in please " a smile :-)) host will know this is your pard and enter you into the tourney .

With TBA: Simply type "/TBA in please" this lets host know you are trying to find a pard , now this is usually allowed by most hosts but you need to find one before 15 minutes before start time or you may get a single pard , some hosts don't like TBA as it does create a bit of confusion

When Signing in please allow at least 10 lines of text to go by before asking in again as this floods the host and makes it twice as hard to get all names in

Another good idea is keep a good watch on table/lobby for your name getting in , also if you are with a pard please make sure when they enter the room you let them know your team is in , so as not to overload the host if they ask in again

Now your ready please wait for rules
Not all hosts have the same rules or formats

    Know the format :-))

    Know the rules :-))

Note: Tournaments are required to start on time and Hosts are allowed to only take the number of players to make an even number of teams after rules and assignments are run. Please wait for the host to ask if anyone would like to sub or play and request once only.

What is a sub? A sub is a player that waits and watches at the host table or in the lobby (host will direct you) until a sub(replacement for a player that has to leave) is needed. Please be patient . The host will call for you when you are needed(or in the case of a lobby subs the players will request a sub in the lobby. Some hosts strictly follow the sub list while others allow players to find their own subs if needed. It is individual host choice.

Assignments

Finding your opps: best way for players and hosts is to use copy and paste

Host will post assignments on tourney Table or Lobby

Copy the assignment and paste it to the lobby to find your ops

Note: first opponents listed have table choice is just etiquette
Note: If Tables are assigned by host the first team listed has seat choice
To copy you can use your mouse use the opposite to your normal click and select copy or you may use
keyboard and buttons CTRL C this is the standard copy command for dos based systems (windows) Now you have your opponents you may want to copy them to a blank notepad just incase you use copy before end of game

Find ops in lobby use paste to paste you click on the lobby chat area then using mouse you opposite click then paste then if you are first team listed type table you would like to play at and then Enter or you may use CTRL V this is the standard dos (Windows) paste command fallow the above with out using the mouse:-))

Reporting

There are many ways to report remember the hosts do their best to run smoothly. Would you like to help them ( I knew you would say yes )

Best way to help hosts is to use the paste command paste the complete assignment to the host table and simple type over the word " VRS " with either "Wins Over or Loses To " depending on if you won or lost , this makes it so much easier for the host to find you in the file they use to keep track of games , they need the number of team to find you , should you report as this i.e. " I win " they have to search through as many as 138 names for your name ( I know you can see how this could be hard )

Examples

This is the assignment you received Rd1 21)wild_man23/Coty90 Vrs 22)JACG/txcountrybumkin the best way to report is to paste that in the typing area on your hosts tourney table then edit the "Vrs" to say either "Wins Over or Loses To" Rd1 21)wild_man23/Coty90 Lose to 22)JACG/txcountrybumkin or Rd1 21)wild_man23/Coty90 Wins Over 22)JACG/txcountrybumkin

This will make it so much easier on your host to find you and confirm your win and also get you back playing sooner .

The host will find your team and confirm a win or say please come again if you lose thanks the host would be super nice to hear.

Then wait for your next opponents at the host tourney table they will come along soon .

Then just follow the above steps over.

The Game

Remember its a game have fun and practice good sportsmanship , there are no real prizes , just the satisfaction you played a great tournament :-))

If you need to umm say potty hold last card in play and announce BRB to let everyone know , this prevents being accused of cheating ,also remember only a 2 minute BRB is allowed during play, if its an emergency let people know what happened :-))

Don't use profane language , also watch what you say to pard some things are considered table talk , these are always frowned upon gravely in tournament play and can result in a DQ (and that's not Dairy Queen LOL )

Should you lose congratulate your opponents by saying GGA (Good game all) and Glu2 in next round , always make a person feel good about game :-))

TOCs

Some Hosts and hosting group hold their own TOCs(Tournaments Of Champions . You may ask that host if they have a toc and where to check for information. Hosts that have their own TOCs will generally email you an invitation .

Last and most important HAVE FUN and BE WYLD!!!!!!!!!!!!
